A light hearted look at my recent experience

Moving house. What’s that all about? They say it is one of the most stressful things you can do in your lifetime besides experiencing divorce or bereavement.

So, I said to myself, “this time, I will be very organised. This time I will stay on top of everything. I will make lists and work my way through”…..this is after I have looked for, found, lost and found again another property, make an offer, have it rejected, make another and finally have it accepted and then buy (well, organise some form of mortgage finance and wonder how the hell I will ever pay for it!!!)

Then the next phase of fun starts doesn’t it…..actually moving. Let’s make a list, after all, I did say that’s what I would do….

  • Organise the removal people.
  • Pack everything up into boxes including wrapping all the breakables in newspaper or bubble wrap.
  • Break the odd thing.
  • Throw out some items but promise myself I will have a good old clear out when I unpack the other end (yeah right!!!).
  • Panic the last pieces of packing the night before, finally getting to bed at 2.30am knowing they will be here at 9am.

…..and then relax, for now.
