We have a choice, we must be careful what we choose

There is a saying by Abraham Maslow (American psychologist). He says:

“You will either step forward into growth, or you will step back into safety”

I think what he is trying to say is if we want to progress and make improvements, whether that be in life or business, we have to be brave enough to step outside of our comfort zones and push ourselves forward to do something different.

Playing safe will never move us forward. Remember the saying that is always attributed to Albert Einstein?

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”

Well, whether he actually said it or not doesn’t really matter here. What does matter is the sentiment.

If we want to improve our performance or make changes, continuing to do the same thing will not work. At best, it will leave us in exactly the same position we started in, and at worst, we will gradually find things are getting worse.
