What Right Do We Have to Be seen?
The answer is more obvious than you think.
I, like probably many of you, have read countless articles recently, regarding the apparent change to the Medium algorithm and its effect on views. Some have been upset and critical, some have been accepting and more positive and others have changed their position from bitterness and upset to a more positive acceptance.
I would like to pose this question. What right do we have to be seen? The answer of course is absolutely ZERO.
We are here, on a platform that pays us when people read our articles. It is a fantastic opportunity to build a writing career.
I can understand the disappointment an established writer may have when they see the numbers of “reads” on their articles halve overnight and consequently their income too. I really can. But believe me, that is nothing compared to what a new writer is feeling, struggling to achieve just one eyeball on an article that has probably taken twice as long to write as it would an experienced writer.
But here’s the thing…….
This is not our platform. It is owned by someone else!!!
That means, they can do what the hell they like with it, without our consent.
